| Old Town Square is a historic square in the Old Town quarter of Prague in the Czech Republic. The Square is located near to Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge, Prague's Old Town Square is always full with tourists from all over the world, especially in the summer and during Christmas holidays. It features different architectural styles, such as the gothic Thyn Catedral and baroque St.Nikola´s Church, Old Town Square is an small oasis for travelers wearied by Prague's narrow streets. In the center of square, surrounded by many churches, the Astronomical clock may be found, the high tower at the Old Town Hall offers you a beautifull breath-taking panoramic view of Old Town and other districts of Prague's center.
The square's center is home to a statue of religious reformer Jan Hus, who was burned at the stake for his beliefs. The statue was erected on July 6, 1915 to mark the 500th anniversary of his death. Old Town Square is not only a popular meeting place, but it shares almost all of celebrations (New Year's, CHristmas), holiday markets (Christmas and Easter), and protests. On occasion, hockey and futball games are shown on huge screens, drawing large crowds of fans.
