Vinohrady area is one of the most quite, but very prestigious district in the central Prague. In middle ages instead of wide streets with small beautiful houses, shops, offices and hotels were large vineyards, grape gardens and fields. In 1879 the area received the status of the city and was called The Royal Vinohrady. In 1960s the city was annexed to Prague City. The square of place with the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Ludmila (the patron of Czech Republic), that was built in 19th century and is one of the most magnificent and green places of the area is situated in Vinohrady district. Many young people, as well as elder ones come to Namesti Miru, where the Cathedral is situated to spend quite time on the benches near the church in the greenness of trees.
